Technical Sale Representative - Construction

Barkman is launching a new product line in 2019 focused on the construction industry and we are seeking a Technical Sales Representative, Construction to introduce and build this new market to its full potential. The territory will be between Manitoba and Saskatchewan with the role based out of our Winnipeg Sales office.
 
Technical Skills: This role will primarily communicate with customers in engineering firms, project management, government and construction companies. To be successful in building your customer base and producing accurate sales quotes, a degree or diploma in Engineering or CET, skills in Autocad or Solidworks, and/or extensive experience in a technical role is a requirement.
 
People Skills: As this is a new product line, your sales experience will assist you with cold calling, connecting with potential customers, presentations, building business relationships and seeing projects through from start to finish. Internally, you will work closely with Sales, Drafting & Technical Services, Production Planning, Product Development, Production and Shipping. Teamwork, leadership skills, collaborative problem solving and constructive communication are essential both internally and externally.
 
Sales Skills: The opportunity to launch a new product line should be one of the prime elements that interest you in this role. Working closely with the Sales Manager you will be responsible for building a five-year plan on how to introduce the product, creating customer connections, completing bids or quotations and attaining sales for production. Understanding the product’s features, capabilities and how this product will satisfy our customer’s requirements is key to you being passionate about the product’s sales success.

Warehouse Worker

We are currently looking for a Material Handler to join our Materials Management team who is detailed focused, believes in teamwork and interested in both forklift and manual work.
 
Essential qualities for the role:
  • Customer service mindset where you will be able to effectively interact and communicate with various departments at Barkman along with outside vendors delivering product.
  • Conducting yourself in a professional manner with a positive attitude

  • Ability to multitask as this role is responsible for unloading deliveries to the yard, supplying Production with materials and maintaining pallet storage. 
Some job responsibilities and qualifications for this role include:
  • Operating a Forklift or Electric Pallet Jack in a safe manner to move product
  • Ensuring the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries
  • Assisting with monitoring and maintaining inventory control of parts and raw materials
  • Organizing pallet storage based on size and color and condition
  • Lifting cases of product and/or stock merchandise according to documented procedures
  • Processing all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking
  • Sorting and distributing incoming shipments into the final stock location
  • Inspecting product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and following safety procedures
  • May be required to assist with scheduling freight appointments
  • Performing quality audits of the condition of shipped goods prior to signing off
  • Flexibility to assist with overtime as needed
  • Physical activities include: walking, standing, kneeling, bending, lifting up to 70lbs, reaching, using both arms/hands to operate equipment
  • Required to wear high visibility vest, hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection for specific jobs 
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Previous forklift experience is a strong asset but training is provided
  • Basic computer knowledge: e-mail and basic data entry completing such tasks as electronic forms or data for tracking production information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts
Working Conditions:
  • Outdoor and indoor work with physical activities including: walking, standing, kneeling, bending, lifting up to 70lbs, reaching, using both arms/hands to operate equipment
  • Compulsory personal protective equipment: high visibility vest, hard had, safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection for specific duties
  • Schedule is Monday to Friday with needing the flexibility of starting between 6 am to 8am for an 8-hour shift with overtime as required
