Gearing Up Garrow Park for the Summer Games with Durahold

Written by Barkman Concrete Published on June 21st, 2017

From July 28 to August 12, 2017, Canadians will be visiting Kenora’s Rowing Club to watch one of the big events of the 2017 Canada Summer Games – the rowing event.

In preparation for this event, the City of Kenora was tasked with creating a new functional space along the hillside bank of Garrow Park. Barkman’s Durahold Segmental Retaining Walls provided the means to construct a large, multi-tiered retaining wall system that will improve the aesthetics as well as deal with soil erosion that has plagued the shoreline.

With Sean Galagan as Barkman’s representative, he’s been consulting on the project and has been since conception, making sure all items are in order and the design specifications are met.

Because of the Barkman consultations and suggestions by the Landscape Architects, Barkman custom-fit certain pieces to accommodate the unique design elements involved in allowing the wall to curve along natural grade changes of the bank.

LM Contracting broke ground on May 23rd and completed the project in time for the Summer Games rowing event. Check out our video for the Durahold installation.
