Lead Production Scheduler

November 19, 2017 Barkman, a leading manufacturer of precast concrete products for residential, commercial, agricultural, and municipal applications requires a Lead Production Scheduler to join our Production Planning team, in our Steinbach Office.
In this role, you would be responsible for but not limited to:
  • Being the Lead Production Scheduler in a team of three that oversees all production scheduling in the Steinbach plants
  • Participate with Material Requirement Planning improvements/implementation team
  • Personally prepare daily production schedules and issue work orders (job travelers) in a timely fashion along with overseeing the Production Planning team’s performance
  • Monitor production progress and hold Production departments accountable to complete on time
  • Create, maintain, and ensure execution of the Production Schedule
  • Review long-term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Review demand and supply to understand bottleneck and propose alternative capacity or areas needing capacity improvement to meet demand
  • Actively participate in the Sales and Operating planning process that looks long term at matching capacity with demand, lead-time and delivery performance
  • Recommend components to stock to support a pull system for products and to reduce lead-times.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of weekly, monthly and future capacity to optimize product level loading and achieve manufacturing continuity during low and high-volume months
  • Utilize MRP (computer system) to leverage Production Planning’s capabilities and assist in monitoring data integrity
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
To qualify for this role, you will have:
  • Experience as a production scheduler with education related to supply chain management an asset but not a requirement
  • Extensive knowledge of MPS/MRP, Demand Flow, JIT, Forecasting, Inventory Planning, Kanban, and Supply Chain design
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be a team player within multi-disciplined, cross functional team
  • Solid knowledge of business software systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization with a customer service focus
